Sustainability Pledge

We are committed to social and environmental responsibility, in and through golf.

We recognise the importance of playing our part to protect and restore nature, conserve resources, take climate action and strengthen communities.

We will seek to use our reach to raise awareness and positive action amongst golfers, partners and the wider public.

We will make an important difference, and help golf become a valued leader in sustainability.

GEO Certified

Through becoming GEO Certified we have achieved the most widely regarded and credible sustainability distinction in golf. The international certification was earned after successfully meeting the industry-standard best practices and demonstrating our commitment to make sustainability of central importance to our golf facility. We're proud of our social and environmental value - and looking forward to doing even more on our sustainability journey.

Notable Observations

  • Wildlife Habitat Management: The management plan prioritises native species and includes projects that enhance habitats for wildlife, such as allowing fringe grasses in bunkers to support solitary bees. This approach balances golf course maintenance with ecological conservation.
  • Pollution Prevention Measures: Practical measures to minimise pollution from golf course operations are well-documented, including maintaining buffer zones and ensuring hazardous materials are stored securely, which contributes to ecological health.
  • Water Efficiency: The club actively monitors water consumption and implements targeted irrigation practices, demonstrating a commitment to reducing water demand. The irrigation system is well-managed and is under review for upgrades to enhance efficiency further.
  • Energy Management: Efforts to reduce energy consumption through efficient practices in course maintenance and building operations are evident. The club is also exploring renewable energy sources, like planned solar PV installations.
  • Community Engagement: The club actively encourages staff to engage with the local community, fostering a culture of support for local charities and volunteer opportunities.
